Grace of Giving
2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give;
not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Three Ways to Give
Our God is a giving God.
He willingly gave His only Son as a sacrifice on the cross for our sins (John 3:16), lovingly offers the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ to all who will believe (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8), and generously gives us everything we need to live a full and abundant life (Romans 8:32; John 10:10).
As God’s children, we should desire to give.
- Our giving is a reflection of the character of God. (Ephesians 5:1-2)
- Giving is a response of gratitude for all God has done for us. (Matthew 6:21)
- Giving of our resources is the biblical means for funding the furtherance of the gospel message. (1 Corinthians 9:1-14, 16:1-2; Philippians 4:15-18)
- God has promised to bless us as we give. (Malachi 3:10; Acts 20:35; 2 Corinthians 9:8-12)
If Southwest Baptist Church is not your church home, there is no obligation to give. However, for those who are members of Southwest Baptist Church, we hope this tool will help you to abound in the grace of giving (2 Corinthians 8:7).
